Rob & Lisa – A barn, an orchard and a pizza van!

Ok so, can I just say, this wedding and this couple were FRICKING AMAZE. I am so lucky to meet and work with such awesome people. So much has happened following on from this day – Paul and I ourselves loved this wedding and the atmosphere so much that we are now actually getting married at this same venue!!!! And Rob & Lisa are going to be guests! Cray cray.

Rob & Lisa are through and through outdoorsy people. He is a Biologist and she looks after penguins – awesome right?! Their wedding reflected them as people, utterly laid back, beautiful and a massive celebration.

Monks Withecombe in Chagford, Dartmoor, is the most idealic retreat. Home of Nicky & Simon, two lovely characters who welcome you in with open arms, tea and cake! They were on hand all day helping where needed, from shifting hay bales to walking guests out at the end of the night in torch light. Lovely people.

The venue consists of an art gallery which is where Rob & Lisa held their ceremony. Beautifully light with exposed beams, it has all the character but remains lovely and airy. This leads down to a stunning barn where the reception is held. Surrounded by views of Dartmoor reaching as far as the eye can see, the barn and gallery are teamed with gardens galore and they most beautiful orchard.

I was with Lisa and her lovely bridal party in the morning and we had such a giggle. Mum turned up with a towel on her head as sheep ran past the window! Prosecco flowed and it was wonderful. My second shooter for the day, Paul, was with the groomsmen at the Three Crowns down the road in Chagford. They got ready, went for a pint before having a walk around and then heading up to Monks. I love to offer prep photos for the groom and his groomsmen as they often get forgotten in the early stages of the day. Great to add a second shooter so their story can be told too!

Lisa wore a stunning lace low back Maggie Sottero gown with beautiful detail topped off with a jewelled waist belt and back necklace. Her hair was intricate and elegant and was styling by the insanely talented Ellie @theupdogirl. Gorgeous wild flowers were delivered on the day by Fern and Bloom. Lisa’s make up was on point and was by Naomi Gilmore – Subtle yet emphasising her gorgeous eyes.

Following the beautifully relaxed and intimate ceremony, we headed out for welcome drinks and then for a handful of group shots. If you know me and my style you know I limit the amount of formal group shots – purely as more candid relaxed shots are not only more genuine keepsakes and tell the story much better, but also, formals take a good 5 minutes each – gathering guests and keeping them for running off, when all they want to do is celebrate with a bevvy! Don’t get me wrong, I completely understand some couples like a few formals and they can absolutely have their place within a wedding gallery, but keeping these to a sensible amount means more relaxed guests, more relaxed couple, more relaxed me and more time for authentic story telling images!

Food was provided by the amazing Two Birds Kitchen from their Pizza van! Thanks so much for the delish pizza! Guests were given the cutest tokens for late night snack at Stinky Vintage’s Cheese Toastie van. To die for!

They day lead in to a wonderful party with a rad band –Quite Brazen. They smashed it. Atmosphere was just delicious. Some guests later ventured outside to watch the sunset by the fire pits.

Please can we just do this all again please thanks?

I am taking bookings for 2019 and 2020 which are filling up quickly and I am having to turn people away which I HATE! So please, if you think I am the one for you guys then get in touch and book me up!

Love love.
